San Diego is located on the Pacific Coast in southern California. The metro area borders with Mexico. San Diego enjoys beautifully mild weather with plenty of sunshine. The city is known for being a more laid-back option compared to the fast-paced LA and San Francisco. Great beaches, rich culture, and excellent beer.

  • Weather

    San Diego has remarkably consistent weather throughout the year. January daily highs are in the mid-60s and July the highs are in the mid-70s. The area gets sunshine throughout the year, with almost no rain throughout the entire summer months.

  • Beaches

    San Diego has several great options for beaches, that each seem to have their own personality. Mission Beach is a laid-back destination for surfers, volleyball players, and tourists. Coronado offers world-class beaches with the best views of the San Diego skyline. La Jolla is a relaxed beach with gentle waves and family-friendly atmosphere.

  • Downtown / Gaslamp

    San Diego’s downtown is less than a 10-minute drive from the airport. The most popular part of the downtown area for shopping, dining, and entertainment is the Gaslamp District. The baseball stadium, convention center, and many other attractions are all within walking distance.

  • Culture

    San Diego has a diverse mix of cultural influences. The city runs to the US/Mexican border so there is plenty of influence from south of the border. Little Italy is a must-visit for great food. Another major influence is the navy base, which is the city’s biggest employer.

  • Beer

    San Diego is regularly ranked one of the country’s best cities for beer lovers. The area has more than 100 breweries, and several are some of the best in the nation. Ballast Point has quickly grown to a very popular brand and they have an excellent brewpub that is a must-visit.

THE SEASONS
  • Winter is relatively the wet season, but it is still pretty dry. Daily high temps reach the mid-60s. It is a great time to visit if you aren't specifically looking to go to the beach.

  • By May, daily highs hit around 70 (they don't get much warmer during the summer). Baseball season starts in April and it can be a good time to visit to catch a game.

  • Summer is beautifully mild... mid-70s, no rain, and lots of sun. Summer is the busy tourism season, especially with beach-goers.

  • Fall looks a lot like the spring. November highs hit around 70 and it gradually gets more rainy (still pretty dry).
