Santa Barbara is a popular tourist destination on the Pacific Coast about 95 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Santa Barbara is frequently called the “American Riviera” due to a similar climate and geology to the French Riviera. Santa Barbara is mild year-round. Winters are the rainy season and highs hit the mid-60s (generally too cool for beach days). Winters are the slow tourism season.
Spring is a time of steady drying and warming. By May, highs hit around 70 degrees and the weather is very dry. May and June are great months to visit as you miss the peak tourism season.
Summers are dry, sunny, and mild. Highs only reach the mid-70s and there is almost no rain. July and August are peak months for tourists, especially on the beaches.
Santa Barbara has a late summer. September and October are similar to July and August. Temps reach the mid-70s and it is fairly dry.
