  • Wine Country

    Part of what makes this northern Michigan locale so beautiful and enjoyable is the fact that it is home to several wineries. In fact, many call this Michigan region “wine country.” Take a tour of a hilltop situated winery and enjoy a glass as you watch the sun set. It really doesn’t get any more picturesque than this.

  • Beaches

    For water lovers, Traverse City is the one of the best Michigan places to be. Known for its sandy beaches, the southern shore of East Bay is particularly popular with visitors and locals alike. There’s also Traverse City State Park which offers plenty of outdoor activity.

    Where there is water, there are lighthouses. And Traverse City has a few that are most definitely worth checking out. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum even offers visitors a look at what life was like once upon a time for a lighthouse keeper in Michigan.

  • Grand Traverse Commons

    A great deal of the area’s “action” happens here. A former mental asylum, the Grand Traverse Commons has since been converted into a near 500-acre campus that features retail shops, places to eat, apartment buildings and entertainment venues.

  • Traverse City's winter is cold and snowy, with temperatures ranging from the teens to 30s Fahrenheit. The city embraces the winter season with various outdoor activities, such as skiing and snowboarding at nearby resorts. Winter offers opportunities for snowshoeing and ice fishing on the frozen lakes. Indoor attractions like the Dennos Museum Center and local breweries provide cozy settings to enjoy during the colder months.

  • Spring in Traverse City brings milder temperatures, with highs in the 40s and 50s Fahrenheit. As the snow melts, the city's cherry blossoms and orchards come to life, creating picturesque landscapes. Spring is an excellent time to explore the local wineries along the Traverse Wine Coast and enjoy the scenic beauty of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The city also hosts various spring festivals and events celebrating the cherry blossom season.

  • Traverse City's summer is warm and pleasant, with temperatures in the 70s to 80s Fahrenheit. The city's beautiful beaches along Lake Michigan attract visitors for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. Summer offers opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing on the Grand Traverse Bay. The city's downtown area comes alive with outdoor concerts, art fairs, and lively street festivals.
