Situated not too far from the Hoover Dam, the city has come to be a popular stop for those looking to check out the engineering landmark while also enjoying a restful and relaxing stay in a historic town. And given that it’s about a half hour from Las Vegas, Boulder City is also a great choice for those who may want to visit the iconic strip but stay just outside of it. As far as activities, there is something for outdoor enthusiasts, foodies, and history buffs alike here. The Hoover Dam of course is a huge draw. The city also houses a museum dedicated to its creation. There is plenty of outdoor adventure to be had in Boulder City as well. From mountain biking, to kayaking in the nearby Colorado River, you can most definitely spend the day enjoying nature.
Boulder City might be most attractive because of its central location. It’s close to the Hoover Dam of course, but also within a very short drive of Vegas and Lake Mead. It’s a very relaxing place from which to venture out and explore the rest of Nevada’s great sites.
Throughout the year Boulder City hosts festivals to celebrate just about everything under the sun. They hold an annual BBQ fest, a Beer Fest, a Fine Arts Fest, and the can’t-miss Damboree Celebration.
Antiquing is quite popular in Boulder City. With a number of little shops and auction houses, the region draws antique lovers from all over. The downtown area also offers plenty by way of retail, restaurants and entertainment options.
Winters can be fairly cool. Average daily highs are only in the mid-50s.
Springs are beautifully mild. April temps top out in the 70s with lots of sun.
Summer can be very hot and very busy. If possible, consider avoiding this season altogether.
Fall is another great time to visit. October average highs are 80 degrees and sunny.
