Jersey City, besides representing quintessential Jersey culture, is what you might call a melting pot of, well, everything. From its eclectic cultural vibe to the many kinds of food found here, this place truly is emblematic of the spirit of the entire country in some ways. Jersey City was a gateway for many immigrants coming in from Ellis Island, and you can certainly tell that the area is rich in history and tradition.

  • Liberty State Park

Perhaps one of the most dramatic parks in the country, Liberty State Park has a truly scenic backdrop: the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. People visit the park to connect with the past in some ways. While here, you can check out the Liberty Science Center and there’s also a live music stage. Then catch a ferry and take a ride on over to the Statue of Liberty.

  • Restaurant Scene

Jersey City isn’t known as the melting pot of New Jersey for nothing. The diverse mix of restaurants here creates a foodie vibe like no other. You can get pretty much anything your heart craves, from Korean, to BBQ, to Italian, to Indian and Cuban.

  • Arts District

Jersey City really hasn’t gotten the artistic credit that it deserves. The Powerhouse Arts District for example is a Victorian era powerplant turned into an arts center—a definite must-see. The Jersey City Art and Studio Tour brings you up close and personal with some truly amazing local artists and their work.

  • Waterfront

The greatest thing about this city is perhaps its location. It is situated along the Hudson River, so not only do you get stunning views of New York City, but the waterfront itself provides an extremely long walkway on which you can find numerous shops, restaurants, and attractions.
