A port on the Columbia River, Hood River is a fairly small city with a lot of heart. Their prime location on the water and within 30 miles of Mt. Hood makes them ideal for those tourists who want to experience a little of everything the Oregon outdoors has to offer. While their smaller size makes the city life a bit more manageable for those just stopping in for a visit. One of its more popular nicknames—the wind surfing capital of the world—basically says it all.
