  • Ollantaytambo Ruins

    Ollantaytambo represents both a current small town and the site of oft-visited Incan ruins. The streets are cobblestone, the people friendly and the chocolate museum a must-visit. The ruins themselves consist of a royal residence, temples and a fortress.

  • Mountain Bike through the Valley

    A very popular way to tour the Sacred Valley, mountain biking tours have become increasingly prevalent in the past few years. Trails and dirt roadways take you past some of the region’s most visited ruins to include: Qenqo and the X Zone.

  • Rainbow Mountain

    Rainbow Mountain is perhaps one of the most prominent hikes you can take in all of Peru. So named because of its astounding multicolored sandy stretches, the mountain rises to a height of 14,000 ft.

  • The dry season in the Sacred Valley occurs from June to August. During this time, the weather is cool and dry, with clear skies and mild temperatures. It's an ideal time to explore the ancient Inca sites scattered throughout the valley, such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Visitors can also enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and biking amidst the stunning landscapes.

  • Spring in the Sacred Valley, from September to November, brings milder temperatures and occasional showers. The valley becomes lush and green, and the terraced agricultural fields thrive with vibrant crops. Spring is an excellent time to visit local markets, where visitors can immerse in the colorful culture and purchase traditional crafts and textiles.

  • The wet season in the Sacred Valley takes place from December to March. The region experiences frequent rain showers, causing the landscapes to burst with life and vibrant flora. Despite the rain, summer offers a unique opportunity to witness the fertile valleys in full bloom and to experience the authentic Andean culture during local festivals.

  • Fall in the Sacred Valley, from March to May, brings cooler temperatures and occasional showers. It's a quieter time in the valley, making it perfect for travelers seeking a more tranquil experience. Fall is an excellent time to explore lesser-known Inca sites and to interact with local communities to learn about their traditional way of life.
