Part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area, Arlington is a city of nearly 400,000 people. Home to the University of Texas at Arlington, the region is most definitely bustling with activity. Not to mention, as it is where both the Cowboys and Rangers play, you know that energy abounds here. People flock to the city to catch a game, hang out at Six Flags for the day, or even just stroll through the downtown area and take in all of the sights and sounds. The question isn’t what is there to do here, the question is what isn’t there to do. Literally everything from theater, to art museums, to fine dining, to live performances can be found within the city limits. And even though it is all about a modern vibe and energy, Arlington also has a historic side that is incredibly interesting to explore.

  • UTA

As the fourth largest university in Texas, UTA certainly brings a great deal to the city. The Mavericks compete in 15 NCAA sports. Basketball and Volleyball are two of their biggest draws as both play in their recently built arena College Park Center.

  • Food Scene

While, for a long time, Arlington was populated mainly by food franchises, in the past few years the city has experienced an increasingly energized local culinary culture. With heavy Mexican influences as well as plenty of authentic Texas BBQ, the restaurants in Arlington are certainly worth checking out.

  • Sports

This town for many is about the two major teams that serve as the center of the athletic universe for some Texans. The Dallas Cowboys—a.k.a. America’s team—have played in 8 Super Bowls, winning five. Visitors to Arlington can tour AT&T Stadium and see some of the otherwise off limit areas. While the Texas Rangers went to the world Series in 2010 and 2011 and currently play in the American League West division.

THE SEASONS
  • Winter is a slow time as the sports scene slows down, unless the Cowboys are making a run in the playoffs (it has been a while). Daily highs are around 60s. The city does come to life for the annual Cotton Bowl, held around New Year's.

  • Spring is a fun time to visit to catch a baseball game, or to enjoy some of the entertainment before school is out for the summer and the crowds arrive. April temps are in the upper-70s.

  • Summer is a busy time for Texas Rangers baseball games and trips to Six Flags. The weather gets hot, with highs in the mid-90s.

  • Fall is a fun time in Arlington. It is the one time of year where baseball and football are both in-season. October highs are around 80 degrees.
