White Salmon is a city in south central Washington, across from Hood River, Oregon on the Columbia River. White Salmon is next to the Hood River Bridge, which makes for quick access to the bigger city of Hood River, Oregon. White Salmon is a cool town with public art, a bike park, miles of trails, and great food. The town sits at a bit of an elevation, which provides stunning views of Mount Hood and Mount Adams.
TripAdvisor lists rafting or kayaking as the #1, #2, #3, and #4 things to do in White Salmon. Our favorite operator is Wet Planet, and they offer several different trips. Rafting is a must-do if visiting during the summer.
In addition to the river, the area has plenty of great options for bike trails with the Coyote Wall Trail System. White Salmon is relatively close to Mount Hood and Mount Adams for the hikers.
The town has some great options for grabbing and a bite after playing outside. A great microbrewery is Everybody’s Brewing. For breakfast, check out North Shore Café.
White Salmon sees all four seasons. The area gets a little bit of snow. Some visitors prefer the winter for the snow sports and a fairly short drive to Mount Hood.
Spring is a decent time to visit to see the blooms. Weather is still a little rainy but fairly mild, with highs in the 60s.
Summer is the peak tourism season, with warm weather (highs in the 80s) and lots of sun.
Fall is an underrated time to visit. The colors from the leaves changing is stunningly beautiful.
