Companies That Give Back (Volume #3)

Spur Experiences gives to the charity of your choice but we're not the only company that gives back. Read this new installment of: Companies That Give Back (Volume #3)

TOMS

Inevitably we would need to talk about the “one-for-one model” originators at TOMS.  Blake Mycoskie is an avid traveler and while in Argentina he had two realizations: an uncomfortably high percentage of people (especially children) can’t afford shoes in the country; and, the common shoe style there could be a desired fashion in the U.S.  He coordinated with some Argentine manufacturers and made a few trips back to Argentina to plan the business and establish partners.  After a fortuitous national feature, TOMS exploded overnight into a household name.  Their one-for-one model gives a pair of shoes to a child in need for each pair purchased.  They’ve expanded into other shoe styles as well as eyewear maintaining the one-for-one model and giving in more ways. Hand in Hand Soap

Smell pretty, be clean, and don’t harm the environment.  That’s only the beginning with Hand in Hand Soap as they are committed to creating high quality soaps with natural ingredients that are environmentally-conscious in development and growth.  On top of that, their one-for-one soap program has given nearly half a million bars of soap to needy people in Haiti.  To take it one step farther, they’ve also helped repair four wells in Haiti that serve thousands of residents with clean water. To show your support and get clean click Hand in Hand Soap

Yoobi

This is a cool company that makes fun and enviable school supplies for purchase.  No need to envy, however, as they give school supplies to children in need whenever purchases are made.  Launched in 2014 Yoobi has impacted over 2 million children’s lives and states that they “will not rest until every kid - in every classroom - has the tools they need to succeed.”  They collaborate with the Kids in Need Foundation to target the schools in most need and distribute gifts accordingly. To ramp up your pencil game and help children succeed click Yoobi

FIGS

Pockets!  Nurses and doctors need pockets!  OK, FIGS does a lot more than provide nurses with highly desired pockets (the pockets have zippers too, that’s awesome!  OK, enough of pockets…), additional to providing high end and fashionable scrubs for society’s life-savers they also have their Threads-for-Threads program.  For every set of scrubs purchased FIGS will give a set to a healthcare provider in need.  When you buy this functional work attire you’ll be helping someone in need, who is helping someone in need: that’s exponential giving at its finest. To save lives in comfort (with pockets!) click FIGS
