Get ready for a great day! As you're driven out of the city, your guide will not only set the scene for your adventure, but also point out and guide you past some of the city's top highlights. You'll head south through the Waikoto countryside passing mighty rivers, beautiful mountains, and Taupiri which has many culturally significant sites including Maori burial grounds and cultural totem poles.
You'll then arrive at the Waitomo Caves where you'll take a ride in the Glowworm Grotto Boat viewing stalactites, stalagmites, and lime columns before descending further underground for the Glowworm experience.
On your way back, you'll stop outside Big Bird to see and meet some local friendly animals. These guys know your guides well and even though you do not have time to go inside the park, the friendly animals will often come to the fences for a photo or two, thrilling guests.
